Students in the 学校心理咨询 Program will complete 100 total hours (40 of which are direct service hours) in 学校心理咨询实习, at a selected school working with students under the supervision of a permanently certified school counselor. 在 Internship in 学校心理咨询 I 和 Internship in 学校心理咨询 II, students continue at a selected school working with students under the supervision of a permanently certified school counselor. Over the course of a minimum of two internship semesters, students must accumulate at least 600 total hours 和 240 direct service hours.

To apply, students should select 澳大校园MSEd辅导 as their degree program on the graduate application form. Students do not have to choose their counseling specialty (学校心理咨询 or 心理健康咨询) until the second semester, as this is when the specialization courses begin.

Students should submit the following to the 研究生 招生 Office:

• the completed application form 和 fee;
• three letters of recommendation;
• official transcripts of all undergraduate 和 graduate coursework;
• scores from the GRE general test if undergraduate GPA is less than a 3.0对4.0规模
• a brief personal statement of your program interest.

的re are three types of assistantships that all full-time graduate students may choose to acquire: 1) General graduate assistantships; 2) Enhanced graduate assistantships; 3) Athletic graduate assistantships.

所有 full-time students entering graduate programs in 学校心理学, 咨询, College Student Development 和 Education are awarded a 普通研究生助学金 – there is no application for this type of assistantship. 该奖项提供3美元的奖金,000 reduction in tuition 和 requires the student to work 5 hours per week for a professor or university division. Students are responsible to the faculty or staff member to whom they are assigned.

Full-time students may instead choose to apply for an enhanced graduate assistantship through the Division of Student Experience, 作为宿舍主任, Weekend Supervisor or Assistant Coordinator of 领导 Programming. In exchange for working 20 hours per week, this assistantship covers 50% of tuition costs 和 provides the graduate student with a stipend of $3,000 to $5,000, depending on the specific assistantship. Some enhanced assistantships provide a furnished on-campus apartment 和 full meal plan when the University is in session. Students interested in the part-time program may apply for an athletic graduate assistantship, which fully covers a maximum of 18 credits of tuition per academic year (see the part-time sequence) 和 provides a stipend in exchange for working 20 hours per week as an assistant coach, 体育教练, 或者设施经理. Additional financial support may be available through grants 和 other external sources obtained through the Lea R. Powell Institute for Children 和 家庭. 的 财政援助办事处 assists graduate students in obtaining additional forms of assistance whenever possible.

Alfred University’s Masters of Science degree 和 Certificate of Advanced Study (MSEd/CAS) in 学校心理咨询 comprises 60 credit hours of coursework 和 supervised practicum 和 internship experiences. As a CACREP accredited program, Alfred’s coursework addresses the eight common core curricular experiences as well as several specialization areas including:

• Foundations of school counseling
• Exceptionality, mental health 和 disability
• Evidence-based interventions in schools
• 咨询和预防
• College counseling 和 advising

的 practicum 和 internship courses, which occur across three semesters of training, provide students with over 700 hours of applied experiences in area elementary, middle 和 high school settings.

Alfred University’s school counseling program is registered with New York State’s Education Department. 项目完成后, students receive their provisional certification as a K-12 School Counselor, making them eligible for employment as school counselors immediately. Since Alfred’s program is 60 credits, students will have also completed all of the educational requirements for permanent certification in New York, needing only the two years of post-degree experience to gain permanent certification. And given our program’s CACREP accreditation 和 New York reciprocity, graduates have easily been hired for school counseling positions in other states throughout the country.
